Leaf-peeking party

Parties in the fall tend to be more relaxed and Mother Nature can do a lot of the decorating for us. Vivid hues of coral, amber and apricot help us with our decorating scheme. Look for apples, pumpkins, gourds and artichokes and add some greenery from the garden to add to your table decor. Platter of cheeses with these accents will add a rustic touch to your table. This can set the stage for a "leaf-peeking" party. Plan to take an afternoon drive with friends and explore our breathtaking Hudson Valley fall foliage, then complete the afternoon at an outdoor table decorated with natural elements, wine and cheese.

So I am attending a "Black and White" 30th birthday party this weekend. The evite said "dress to impress" and they are renting out a bar in downtown Boston. How formal does one get for a party like this? I mean we are not attending Oprah's yearly white bash, but I would like to try to look my best. Any suggestions Party Lady? For both men and women I guess...

Do you have a black and white dress? I'm sure you have a black skirt or slacks. How about adding a black/white top or white blouse? Black suit with a print blouse? A scarf with black/white print?
Did you want to wear something more semi-formal than casual? How about the "little black dress" with pearls? As for the gentleman, if he really wants to "impress," he could always wear a tux! But since it's a bar in Boston, how about black slacks and a black shirt with a black/white tie? or black slacks with a black and white print/stripe shirt? If he's wearing a jacket, how about a pocket scarf??? A b/w print? They're really big this season. He could always wear a black suit with white shirt...but not for a 30th birthday party when you've been told to "dress to impress." Have fun with the theme, golfgirl, and let us know what you wore! We here in the Hudson Valley would all love to hear what the Bostonians are wearing this season!!
